Why I'm running for office

“Why are you running for office?” This is a question I have been asked a lot over the past few weeks. The answer is quite simple actually, to serve my community and improve our city.

I’ve spent over 10 years as a public servant, nine of those employed with Salt Lake City working within the Sugar House area. I always felt fortunate that my job was to essentially improve my own neighborhood. Not many people have that opportunity. I decided that running for City Council would be an excellent opportunity to use my knowledge and experience from working in local government to represent our district.

I put a lot of thought into running for office and I am confident that I have the time, the temperament and the talents to do the job. Perhaps the most encouraging thing has been talking to neighbors and realizing that they too have the confidence in my abilities to represent them.
